As with all charitable organisations the Fairlynch Museum & Arts Centre relies on its volunteers.
Just a few comments on TripAdvisor from visitors within the space of a few weeks in the summer of 2015:
13 June ‘Great place to visit on your way to the sea! Very interesting and the volunteers who man it are knowledgeable and helpful.’
18 July ‘Most interesting local museum. Good displays particularly the new Walter Raleigh room. The volunteer staff very friendly and informative. Worth a visit just to have a chat with the staff.’
26 July ‘Great small museum. We found this little museum by chance following a visit to Budleigh Salterton. It's well worth having a look round; there are lots of things to see. The volunteer room guides are very friendly and knowledgeable and clearly love what they do.’
29 July ‘A fascinating place to while away an hour. Lots of local info and historical pictures. Very knowledgeable and helpful volunteers. Free but donations welcomed.’
The TripAdvisor comments above show how much our volunteers are appreciated and how they enjoy working at Fairlynch. Wouldn’t you like to join them? You can do as little or as much as you like. To find out more about becoming a steward please contact Christine, pictured here, via our Contact Us page.
It’s not just stewards we need! We are keen to recruit volunteers who can help us with expertise in a variety of fields. Valuable work is being done in our George Carter Library to catalogue books and other items.
Other areas where volunteers can help include: research into areas such as costume, art, archaeology, genealogy and local history that you’d find in any museum. But also areas such as finance, retail, law, publicity, education and DIY. Seen here is one of our volunteer DIY enthusiasts (right) with Honiton-based company Duralife’s Matt Jordan after they had installed our new noticeboard.
You may even be a retired museum professional. Naturally we are keen to recruit new trustees. Please contact our Chairman if you think you can help or click the image below for more information.
