The Local History section of the museum contains material relating to daily life over the centuries in the Lower Otter Valley, including the local railways. There is a collection of approximately 4,000 photographs and postcards.

This loco nameplate on display in our railway memorabilia collection was from the West Country/Battle of Britain Class 4-6-2 locomotive named after the town of Budleigh Salterton on 26 June 1946.

The Rosemullion was one of Budleigh Salterton’s best-known hotels.
