The George Carter Library, pictured here, is named after the amateur archaeologist noted for his investigation of the radioactive nodules in Littleham cliffs, and of the Bronze Age burial sites on Woodbury Common. It holds a comprehensive as possible collection of books, maps and of printed and other material, including ephemera, relating to the local area. It has also a small collection of children’s books for reference and displays.
